Deciphering Dysrhythmias Julie Miller, RN, BSN, CCRN
Two day Conference - The ABC's of PQRST...Basic Dysrhythmia Interpretation PQRST – is the key to interpreting dysrhythmias. This session will focus on linking the electrocardiographic display to the physiology of the conduction system. Interpretation of supraventricular and ventricular dysrhythmias will be covered. Clues to differentiating the various types of dysrhythmias and hints for nursing assessment, intervention and evaluation will be covered. The target audience is nurses new to dysrhythmia interpretation or experienced nurses who need a review. Prerequisite knowledge includes basic anatomy of the conduction system of the heart.
Agenda:
Day One – The ABC’s of PQRST Sinus to Purkinje…what are all those electrical fibers? PQRST and all the intervals…Why you need to know! Supraventricular dysrhythmias – interpretation and management
Day Two – The ABC’s of PQRST Ventricular dysrhythmias – interpretation and management The BLOCKS….Where do they come from? Pacemakers….The beat goes on!
Objectives: Identify dysrhythmias through analyzing rhythm strips Analyze rhythm strips to interpret dysrhythmia Differentiate supraventricular from ventricular dysrhythmias by interpreting rhythm strips. Differentiate the various types of conduction blocks Describe interpretation cues for identifying pacemaker rhythms Discuss implications for life-threatening dysrhythmia Discuss pharmacologic management for dysrhythmias Format and method on instruction: Two Day seminar Interactive lecture, audiovisuals, case studies Primary Speaker Information: Julie Miller, RN, BSN, CCRN President: Paws to Learn 7313 CR 2192 Whitehouse TX 75791 C: 903–245–1223 Fax: 903–839–0894 Email: [email protected] © 2004 Paws to Learn
