Hemodynamic Monitoring Case Studies Julie Miller, RN, BSN, CCRN President: Paws to Learn
Abstract: Designed for the critical care practitioner. This session will present management of critically ill patients in a case study format. Decision-making regarding hemodynamic assessment and interventions will be the focus of this session. Key content will include: correlation of CVP, PAWP, SVR, PVR, CO, CI, SVV, SVI to patient condition, identifying management strategies for altered hemodynamics and evaluation of interventions. Septic shock (warm and cold phase), multi-system organ failure, pulmonary embolism, respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS), cardiogenic shock, neurogenic shock, and hypovolemic shock case studies will be presented. Participants should have a basic understanding of hemodynamic principles and should bring a desire to enhance their knowledge of intervening based on hemodynamic findings. Objectives: Correlate hemodynamic principles to patients with multi-organ dysfunction syndrome. Discuss hemodynamic management for a variety of shock presentations. Format and Method of Instruction: 75 to 90 minutes, expandable to 3 hours Interactive lecture, case studies and audiovisuals Primary Speaker Information: Julie Miller, RN, BSN, CCRN President: Paws to Learn 7313 CR 2192 Whitehouse TX 75791 C: 903–245–1223 Fax: 903– 839–0894 Email: [email protected] © 1999: Paws to Learn
