Is a Healthy Work Environment Possible? Julie Miller, RN, BSN, CCRN Abstract: Care of acute and critically ill patients has made dramatic advancements in technology, treatments and information. The health of our work environments at times have not kept up with this pace of change. For some, the stress of the changes in our work, have created environments of silence. Many of us seek to assure safety for our patients and colleagues in our complex work settings. Individuals working in teams can create environments where it is safe to speak up and focus strategies towards positive changes which are vital to patient safety and our job satisfaction.
